Online entry for the 2020 NZ Chocolate Awards must be made by 5pm Friday 28 February 2020. No extensions are possible.

  • Flavoured Chocolate Bar
  • Filled Chocolate – truffles and bonbons
  • Bark or Brittle/Dipped Fruit and Nuts
  • Open Class – chocolate bars using vanilla flavour, chocolate drinks (hot and cold), chocolate butters/spreads or sauces, Easter and novelty products and chocolate made outside of New Zealand

All Gold Medal winners are considered for the Winner of their category. Top scoring Gold Medal chocolate from Bean-to-Bar, Flavoured Chocolate Bar, Filled Chocolate and Bark or Brittle/Dipped Fruit and Nuts will be re-tasted and the highest scoring will be awarded the title of NZ Chocolate Awards 2020 Supreme Winner.

The entry fee is $100 plus GST per product ($115 including GST). Entry fees support the cost of the judging and managing the Awards.

Entry into the 2020 NZ Chocolate Awards is taken as confirmation that winners will abide by the medal licensing conditions established by the organisers.

Results are emailed to entrants in late March and medal winners announced to media on Tuesday 31 March 2020. Judges feedback is available on request. Producers who win Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals receive a certificate. Where possible organisers will support winners with promotion and publicity.

The NZ Chocolate Awards 2020 Supreme Winner will be announced at a Champions Party in Auckland on Tuesday 21 April, this is a joint event with the winners of the Outstanding NZ Food Producer Awards. Tickets to this party will be available for purchase, initially to Gold Medal winners and then extended to other medal winners and entrants and the public.

When completing the NZ Chocolate Awards 2020 Entry answer all questions or tick appropriate boxes. If the question is not relevant put ‘not applicable’ or ‘NA’.

Payment must be made for the entry to be accepted. Once payment is made a tax receipt will be emailed to confirm receipt of the entry. In the last week of February details for submitting samples will provided by NZ Chocolate Awards co-ordinator. Samples must arrive Auckland for judging between Monday 2 March and Thursday 5 March 2020. We do not accept entries in polystyrene packaging. Judging will be held in Auckland on Saturday 7 March lead by international chocolate judge Elle Coco supported by a team of specialists.
