2020 NZ Chocolate Awards Judging 

When creating the NZ Chocolate Awards it was important to us to develop a judging system that was fair, transparent and easy to use. The awards are judged in a way that is well thought out and credible.

All entries are judged blind and will be removed fully from their packaging for judging.

Entries will be judged according to the criteria below:

  • Appearance/Form 20%
  • Aroma 10%
  • Flavour 40%
  • Texture 30%

Each product is a assessed by a panel of judges. The products achieving over 90% will be awarded Gold Medals with the highest overall score in each category awarded as the Category Winner. The chocolate with the highest overall score from the Awards will be named as the Supreme Winner. In the event of a tie all products will be re-judged by the head judge and two other judges.
